Apolonia 'Pauline' L. Paschke

Apolonia (Pauline) Lucy Paschke, 98, died on March 8, 2022 at her home. She was born in Kosciusko, Texas on January 29,1924, daughter of John and Lucy (Kolodziej) Scheffler, the youngest of 9 children.
Apolonia graduated from Santa Rosa School of Nursing in San Antonio, Texas. After graduation she served with the US Army in the Philippines during WWII in the rank of second lieutenant, using her nursing skills to care for the wounded.
After returning home, she married Leroy, whom she met overseas, on July 28. 1946. They celebrated 65 years of marriage prior to his death in September of 2010.
Apolonia continued to work as a part time nurse at St. Marys Hospital, while being a homemaker and raising her five children. She was a member of St Catherines of Sienna Catholic church for 65 years.
In addition to her parents and husband, Leroy, she is predeceased by her son-in-law Richard, two brothers, Anton and Peter, and six sisters, Mary, Bertha, Regina, Frances, Eleanore and Annie.
Apolonia is survived by her five children, Barbara (Tony) Eidson, Catherine (Craig) Bollin, Larry (Mary) Paschke, Gerry (Patti) Paschke and Sharon Owensby. She loved spending time with her twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at St. Catherines of Sienna Catholic Church on Monday, March 14, 2022. The rosary will be prayed at 9am with visitation from 9:30 until 11. Mass will begin at 11, followed by burial at Mount Olivet cemetery.
In lieu of flower, donations can be made in Apolonias name to St. Catherine Food pantry or Bishop Sullivan Center.
