August J. Mazzoni, 92, of Kansas City, MO, passed away July 29, 2015. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 1, from 10:00-11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Parish, 11822 Holmes Rd, KCMO, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Louis, MO, at Resurrection Cemetery.Gus was born in Herrin, IL, June 1, 1923 and moved to St. Louis where he graduated from Southwest High School. He served as part of the Aviation Engineers from 1943-46. Gus attended St. Louis University and University of Missouri where he earned his Bachelor of Journalism degree. Gus worked in the wholesale grocery business all his life, in advertising, buying, and merchandising. First, in St. Louis, then in Duluth, MN, where he worked and lived for 24 years. He retired in 1990 and moved to Kansas City.Gus is survived by his wife, M. Kathleen (Dunn) Mazzoni, son; Mark and wife Debbie, and their children; Vincent, Michael, and Stephen, and son; David and wife Lori, and their children; Nicholas and Natalia. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to St. Thomas More's Neighbors in Need, Attn to David Butel, 11822 Holmes Rd, KCMO 64131, if check, made to St. Thomas More Church, with Neighbors in Need on memo line.
