BARBARA ALTMAN HODES
Barbara Altman Hodes, 85, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2016 surrounded by her family. Barbara was born on July 10, 1931 in Kansas City, MO to Bernard (B.C.) and Helen (Matthews) Altman. She attended Marymount Catholic High School in Los Angeles, CA for 2 years and returned to Kansas City to attend St. Teresas Academy for her last 1 years of high school.
Barbara married Richard E. (Dick) Hodes January 15, 1955. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, then Cure of Ars Catholic Church. Her interests included antiques, gardening, sewing, and caring for her family. She was a devoted wife and awesome mother!
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Altman and sister Joan (Altman) Sarafian. She is survived by her children, Terri (Rick) Murphy, Dan (Deedy) Hodes, Jim (Janice) Hodes, Don ( Leslie) Hodes, grandchildren: Jessica Hodes, Brian Hodes, Joel Hodes, Laura (Hodes) Mandl, Christina Murphy, Molly Murphy, Heather (Murphy) Pfrehm, Justin Murphy, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Kansas City Hospice for providing compassionate care in her final days.
All services will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Rd, Leawood, KS 66206. There will be a rosary at 9:30 am, followed by visitation until 11 am , followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Forest Hill/Calvary Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 1500 Meadow Lake Pkwy, Ste 200, Kansas City, MO 64114.
