Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend to all ascended into the loving arms of our Lord, surrounded by family members, while praying the rosary in the home on December 15th, after a brief battle with cancer.

She has been reunited with her beloved husband Richard, father Raymond, mother Aline and brothers Edward and Frank Owens along with many friends and loved ones.

Known as Mammaw, to most of those blessed to have met her, was born and raised in Louisville, Ky. where she spent most of her childhood. As an Army “brat,” she attended Highschool in Nuremberg, Germany.

Not long after high school her family returned to Louisville. She accepted a job with Bell South as a “call girl,” near Fort Knox, Ky., where she soon met a handsome Army football player stationed at the Base. After one “toe curling kiss” it wasn’t long before they married.

Mammaw eventually settled with the family in Kansas City, Mo. by way of Green Bay, Wi., Rockford, Il., and San Francisco, Ca., where she and dad continued to raise eight children. As her children began to grow older, she was able to volunteer with several charities, including Birthright and Natural Family Planning. She very much enjoyed teaching young couples about their fertility, as she believed deeply in the sanctity of Life.

Mammaw enjoyed spending time with her many friends celebrating Life, including special events (like an evening OUT of the house), holidays, playing Bridge and traveling abroad with her soulmate husband. She loved doting over her Grand and Great Grand kids. She would glow whenever she held a little one in her lap.

Mammaw, leaves behind (only physically) a daughter, seven sons, a multitude of Grand and Great Grandchildren, two brothers and innumerable loved ones and friends. She will be terribly missed, but we are so happy for her now because we know she is HOME.

In Lieu of flowers Mammaw would prefer a donation to one of her favorite causes such as Birth Right of Greater Kansas City, Mo. 6309 Walnut St. KCMO 64113, St. Luke’s Hospice Care 4401 Wornall Rd. KCMO 64111 or a cause close to your heart.
