Bernice Migliazzo of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Born on March 21, 1926, she was the youngest of 10 children born to Benedito and Carol Anch, and the last of her siblings to pass on.
Bernice was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Vincent Migliazzo. Together, they built a loving family and a home filled with warmth, laughter, and Italian traditions that will be remembered for generations. She is survived by her children: Debbie Burkhart and husband Bruce, Vince Migliazzo and wife Amy, Ann Anthony and husband Matt, John Migliazzo, Paul Migliazzo and wife Shelly, and Carol Migliazzo and husband Rob Gruebert. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
With a heart as warm as her kitchen, Bernice filled every room with love, generosity, and the aromas her proud Italian heritage. Her famous cooking was more than just incredible meals—it was her way of welcoming everyone she cared for into a warm embrace. The work of her life was the gathering of loved ones. And no matter who stopped by, there was always room at the table and food in the fridge to be shared. To know Bernice was to know joy, from her twinkling eyes and radiant smile to her playful sense of humor that could light up even the darkest day.
Bernice's greatest legacy is the loving family she nurtured and united across generations. The love Bernice created lives on in the countless moments she gave us—from Sunday dinners that became celebrations, to conversations over coffee and arguments over cards, she always made every single person feel like the most special guest at her table. She wove together past and present, celebrating each new baby, welcoming every in-law, keeping traditions alive and creating the bonds of family that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial mass to honor and celebrate Bernice’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 25 at 1 P.M., at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Kansas City Hospice, 9001 State Line Rd., Suite 300, Kansas City, MO 64114 or Bishop Spence Place, 4301 Madison Ave., Kansas City, MO 64111 in her memory. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with those who went before her, and watch over the family she so dearly loved.
