Bonnie Vandiver

Bonnie (Whitaker) Vandiver, 91, passed away August 18, 2015 at Springhill Assisted Living in Neosho, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 pm Friday, August 21st at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO where funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Green Lawn Cemetery.Bonnie was born November 24, 1923 in Kansas City, MO. She resided in Kansas City until moving to Neosho, MO five years ago. Bonnie graduated from Central High School and attended the University of Missouri Kansas City. She was a den mother in Cub Scouts and also a leader in the Camp Fire Girls. Bonnie was a member of the former Cherokee Christian Church where she played in the bell choir for 18 years. She also served as a deaconess at the University Heights Christian Church and at Cherokee Christian Church. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, James Herbert Vandiver, after 42 years of a loving marriage; her brothers, Glen, Thomas and Bruce Whitaker; her parents, Thomas and Mabel Whitaker. She is survived by her son, Jerry Vandiver and wife Gracie of Nashville TN; a daughter Nancy Green, and husband Rick, of Neosho MO; granddaughters, Tracy Shelly and Melanie Poteat; grandson, Mitchell Green; great grandchildren, Torrie and Cayden Shelly and Easton Green; several nieces and nephews.
