Carol Ann Breyfogle, 85, of Independence Missouri passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, after a five-week battle with cancer. Carol was born on January 18, 1939, to John Lauer and Eleanor Klinke Lauer in Alton, Illinois. She graduated from Marquette high school in Alton in 1956. Shortly after, Carol met her husband Walter at Alton boxboard. They married in 1957 and had three children. After 35 years of administrative duty at Saint Mark's, Visitation, Saint Elizabeth's, and Our Lady of Sorrows, Carol retired. She was most proud of her volunteer endeavors. Carol served on the board of directors for SAVE hospice house for those affected by AIDS, at a time when AIDS victims were shunned, receiving the Bishop Sullivan award. She served for 25 years with the auxiliary at MCI/Centerpoint, also serving as president, earning volunteer of the year, and logging 11,000 hours of service. She then volunteered with Kansas City Hospice House later becoming involved in the 11th hour program and earning volunteer of the month. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and daughter, Jennifer, her parents, John and Eleanor Lauer, sisters, Jackie Fleischer, and Jeannie Springman. She is survived by sons, Jeffrey (Sherri) Breyfogle, Eric (Tresa) Breyfogle, loving grandsons, Matthew (Ariel) Breyfogle and Sidney Breyfogle. Mass of Christian burial will take place at Saint Marks Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee Summit Rd. Independence MO 64055 on Tuesday, May 7 at 11:00 AM with visitation at 10 AM. A special thanks to the angels at Kansas City Hospice House for their comforting care. Carol and her family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to them in Carol's memory.
