Carrie Nelle died peacefully on Monday, February 6, in Omaha, Nebraska. Carrie Nelle graduated with a B.Sc. from Mount St. Scholastica (now Benedictine College) in 1948. She started her career at Sunflower Ordinance Works in Lawrence, Kansas. In the early 1950's, she moved to Kansas City to work at Veterans Hospital. She loved to travel; including Alaska, Peru, and Ireland. For many years, she tutored for Laubach Literacy. In 2011, failing health prompted a move to Council Bluffs, Iowa and later, Omaha, Nebraska. Carrie Nelle is predeceased by her brother, John, her brother, Paul (late wife Dorothy), and her brother Konrad. She leaves family all over the U.S. and Canada to mourn her passing: her brother Edward Bremmer (late wife Marylyn), her sister, Josephine McQueen (late husband Hugh), her many nieces and nephews, and her large Halasey family. Carrie Nelle also opened her home to many college students, especially Raquel, who lived with her for several years. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, 1001 E. 52nd St., KCMO 64110 at 10:30 am on Monday, February 20. Burial will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 11 am at Forest Hill Cemetery, 6901 Troost, KCMO.
