Catherine Ernst, 90, of Kansas City, MO, passed away April 2, 2015, peacefully at her home. The rosary will be prayed Monday, April 6, at 6:00 pm followed by the visitation until 8:00 pm at St. Thomas More Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, KCMO. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, April 7 at St. Thomas More. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
Catherine was born February 16, 1925, in Milan, MO, to Thomas and Lena (May) Ryan. She was a woman of many trades, working as a teacher in a one roomed school, to working at a Fairfax, KS bomber plant on the hydraulic system of the B-25 bomber during WWII, and as a switchboard operator for Owens Corning Fiberglass. She loved flowers, enjoyed gardening, 1940?s era music and films, and was very proud of her Irish heritage and Catholic Faith. Her true passion; however, was caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly. She was a kind and generous woman who always wanted to make everyone happy and who never said a bad thing about anyone.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 54 years, Leo Ernst, and a brother, Harold Ryan. She is survived by her daughters; Pam Booth (Mark) and Joan Kleffner (Ken), a son, Gregory Ernst, grandchildren; Michael Kleffner (Jamie), Teresa Borchert (Jeremy), and Amy Kleffner, great-grandchildren; Claire & Natalie Kleffner and Jacob, Jessica, & Joshua Borchert, as well as a sister, Donna Hille. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A. Reed Rd, Raytown, MO, 64138.
