Charles (Charlie) E. Anderson, beloved brother of Catherine and William Anderson, passed away on July 2, 2016. Charlie was loved by his family and close friends for his wide, beaming smile, his quick handshake, and his gentle manner. He was a man who spoke in only a few well-chosen words, yet communicated much more in expression and energy. He loved hanging out with the lifelong friends with whom he shared a home in Grandview, and he enjoyed time with his sister Catherine in Kansas City and friend Robert Cole. Born in Detroit in 1957, Charlie liked to wear a black cap with an orange D for the Detroit Tigers, but he also loved watching the Royals and the Chiefs with his friends and family. Charlie was known for his precision and neatness. He was adept at placing labels to boxes each day at Blue Valley Industries in Kansas City, Missouri. His bowling style was easeful and accurate, making many strikes without effort. Charlie had a taste for colors and style, choosing coordinated outfits in bright blues and reds, and sometimes yellow. Charlie touched the lives of people hed only met briefly in stores, restaurants, and the dentist office, as well as people he had known his whole life. The Bates Residential Center, the group home where he lived for over thirty years, was his bedrock. The family conveys sincere and deep appreciation for the kindness and care given him by all the staff at the Bates Residential Home. We are deeply grateful to Donna Lunn and her daughters Josie Dillard, Carinne Burns and Stephanie Carpenter who knew Charlie as a member of the family their whole lives. We are also grateful to Melody Harder and the staff of Blue Valley Industries who guided Charlie with respect and dignity. Charlie was loved dearly by those family members who preceded him in death: his mother, Doris M. Anderson, his father, James K. Anderson, and his brother-in-law, C. Neil Bull. God speed, dear brother. You blessed us all with the gift of your smile and your life. We will never forget you. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Forest Hill and Calvary Cemetery, 6901 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64131 at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to the charity of your choice, if you wish.
