Diane Hanson

Diane Hanson, 89, of Overland Park, KS passed away July 17, 2023, surrounded by her family and nursing staff. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 21 at Cure of Ars, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS, 66206. Interment will follow Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 6901 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64131-1510.

Diane was born on April 22, 1934, the daughter of John and Leora Dugan, in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Bishop Hogan High School and attended the University of Colorado where she was an active member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She was married to Swede Hanson and worked as a bookkeeper for several companies. Diane loved to knit, quilt, and play bridge in her younger years. She was an active member of Sweet Adeline’s for many years in Kansas City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Swede Hanson, parents John and Leora Dugan, and her brother Jack Dugan. She is survived by her children; Jeanne Modin, Debbie Butler, Julie Lawless, Diane Putthoff, Dan Lawless, and Susan Earnest. She has 15 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Homestead of Overland Park Assisted Living and Memory Care and Catholic Community Hospice and Health for providing compassionate care in her final days.
