Diane Marie Morris, 85, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully surrounded by her immediate family in Texas on December 9, 2024. Diane was born on October 30, 1939 to Evelyn Regina (Harr) Gabhart and Francis M. Gabhart. Diane attended St. Therese The Little Flower grade school and Bishop Hogan High School. After graduation, she held a variety of jobs and found her calling when she began working at the Kansas City Missouri Police Department in the legal section. Diane then went on to thrive in the information technology division and retired after 26 years. She was married to Joseph Morris, Battalion Chief for the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department. Joe and Diane were deeply committed to serving their community in their professional as well as their personal lives. Diane often volunteered at the Catholic Church, Little Sisters of the Poor, and Harvesters of Kansas City. In her off time, Diane enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with friends and family at her Lake of the Ozarks vacation home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Evelyn Gabhart; husband Joseph Morris; and sister Mary Pat Biondo. She is survived by her daughter Laura Randle-Farrell (Michael Farrell), and granddaughter Sheridan; sisters, Charlene Klebenstone and Jane Blando; brothers, Michael Gabhart (Kathy) and Gerald Gabhart (Millie). Diane’s large extended family will miss her kindness, encouragement and generous spirit.
The Rosary, Visitation, and Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 20th at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church 11822 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131. The Rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. and Visitation at 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64138.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A Reed Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64138.
Donations may also be given to The Parkinson’s Foundation.
