Diane Janet Welch

Diane Welch was born on November 14, 1928 in Minnesota. Parents George & Katharene Householder with two sisters Carol and Gretchen. They moved to Kansas City without their father and grew up in the Visitation Parish. 

She met Edmund Welch at Visitation Church and they were later married in 1956, at the same church. They had six children Greg, Patrice, Mike, Margaret, Joe and Kevin that all went to Visitation school.

Diane went to Loretto High School and finished her education at UMKC with a teaching degree. She became a preschool teacher and taught until she was 80 years old. She loved to be around children holding an annual 4th of July block party with a parade down the middle of the street. Fun was had by all. 

Later she moved to St. Anthony’s Catholic Retirement Community and enjoyed all that they offered. She passed away at 96 years old on December 4, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospice House surrounded by family. 

Survived by her children Greg, Patrice, Mike, Joe and Kevin. Grandchildren Kameron and Melissa. Preceded in death by her husband Edmund Welch and daughter Margaret.
