Donald J. Robinson

Don Robinson, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughters on November 25, 2014 following a battle with numerous health challenges. Don was a wonderful family man who also loved being part of his wider community. He and his wife Mary celebrated 52 years of marriage in August, and were part of the 50 year celebration as charter members of St. Thomas More Parish this year, where he had been an usher, sacristan and Eucharistic minister. He was a Navy veteran and a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union since 1959 and remained active in the retiree group and supported numerous Union charitable and civic projects. He loved gardening and logged over 1000 hours as a volunteer at Powell Gardens. He and Mary loved to travel, including visits to family across the country.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Robinson, and daughter Christina Robinson. He survived by his wife, Mary, brothers Dan (Sally) Robinson, David (Judy) Robinson, Richard (Martha) Robinson, sister Nancy (Ken) Anderson, daughters Donna (Russ) Gordon, Julie (Jerry) Smith, Kathy (Odes) Wilemon, grandchildren Lauren and Luke Gordon, Jason and Mary Charlotte Smith, and numerous extended family members who all loved him and will miss him very much. Visitation will be held at 12:00 noon November 28; Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 PM at St. Thomas More Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
