Donald R. Smith

Donald R. Smith, 84, passed away September 3, 2017. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9th, from 9:00 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, 8001 Longview Rd., Kansas City, MO 64134. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Matthew the Apostle Church.
Donald was born May 14, 1933 in Deepwater, MO to Eli Lewis Smith and Dora Etta Smith. He proudly served his country in the Navy serving on a few different battleships, including the U.S.S. Henricho and the U.S.S. Winston before retiring from the military. He worked a short time for Deluxe Check Printers in Lenexa, KS after the Navy.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Smith, as well as 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his sons; John Smith and wife Theresa, James Smith and wife Sandra, Jerry Smith and wife Brenda, eight grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
