Donovan D. Mouton, age 66, passed away unexpectedly on April 7, 2025, at his home in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on September 5, 1958, in San Diego, California, Donovan's journey through life was marked by dedication, service, and a zest for personal connections.

A stalwart presence in the Kansas City Community Housing Authority, Donovan dedicated his professional life to public service, where he worked tirelessly alongside former Mayor Kay Barnes for many years. His entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when he opened a State Farm office, showcasing his adeptness at navigating the complexities of business while ensuring the welfare of those he served. Most recently, he distinguished himself as a data analyst for the IRS, where his analytical acumen was not just applied, but also instrumental in contributing to the community he loved.

Donovan’s educational pursuits led him to Florida State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science that set the foundation for his illustrious career. His work ethic was admirable; he embodied a stoic dedication to his professions, blending hard work with a generous spirit. Alongside his career, Donovan was also revered for his philanthropy, volunteering extensively and sharing his time and resources with those in need. He possessed a delightful capacity for friendship—his outgoing nature and passion for socializing brought people into his orbit, drawn to his warm personality, and his brilliant mind. His hard-working nature did not overshadow his extroverted side; he cherished moments spent socializing and trying new culinary experiences with friends throughout the vibrant Kansas City area.

He leaves behind a loving family that includes his father, Joseph Mouton; his mother, Leona (Dennis) Mouton; his sister, Valerie C. Mouton; and his brother, Jonathan R. Mouton. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mollie Mouton; his dear friend and former wife, Donetta Shaw; and a next generation that includes his niece, Aisha I. Hunter, along with his great nephew, Myles West, and great niece, Icelynn Alfred. Each of them holds a fragment of Donovan's heart and will continue his legacy of kindness and tenacity.

In remembrance of Donovan, family, friends, and colleagues are invited to pay their respects at a Memorial Service to be held on April 19, 2025, at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO. The service will commence at 1:00 PM, with affections and recollections shared until 2:30 PM. Memorial Contributions are suggested to: American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 in remembrance of Donovan.
