Edith Ballard died June 8, 2106 peacefully in her sleep. Visitation will be Mon, June 13 from 6-8 pm. She will be buried with her husband at Ft. Leavenworth, Tues, June 14 at 11am. She was born February 11, 1920 in Prairie Home, MO, the oldest of 4 daughters to Mattie Lee King and Lester Lowell Kirschman. She graduated from Prairie Home High School in 1937. She married James Andre Ballard on Dec. 9, 1944 after his return from military service in the South Pacific. Thelma was a dedicated wife, mother, and "lunch lady" for the Kansas City and Center School districts. You haven't really lived until you tasted her apple pie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James, sisters, Dorothy Hicks and Juanita Morrison and their spouses, and infant son Terry James Ballard, and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister, Ann Kirschman, two daughters, Patsy Peters of Olean, NY and Paula Musgrave (Phil) of Kansas City. Also surviving are grandsons, Joshua Peters, Jerry Peters, Jr., step-grandson Jason Musgrave (Jennifer), great grandchildren, Conner Peters, Taylour, Tifani, Jakob and Jaxon Musgrave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Point Baptist Church, Armour Oaks Senior Living Community or a charity of your choice.
