Elizabeth Hanicke, 92, passed away August 13, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17th at Forest Hill Cemetery, 6801 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64131.
Elizabeth was born January 27, 1925 in Pleasant Hill, MO to Walter and Hilda Matthes. She was the co-owner, along with her late husband, Eric Hanicke, of Hanicke Mfg. Co. in Kansas City, which supplied prosthetics for the handicapped. She was very involved in many clubs and had a passion for politics. She was proud of the fact that she was appointed by President Reagan to serve a 3 year term on his handicap committee. Her political career lead her to many positions on various boards and allowed her multiple travels to Washington, D.C.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Eric, her parents, and brother, Walter Matthes. She is survived by her two sisters, Margaret Seaton and Pauline Shull, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
