Essie was born on March 7, 1938 in Arkansas to Artis and Jessie Moore. She moved to Kansas City when she was twelve years old. Sewing, hosting get-togethers, cooking, and chit-chatting were a few of Essies favorite things, but above all, her family was the most important.
Essie was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Theodore; sisters, Juanita Powell and Phyllis Johnson; brother, Artis Moore, Jr.; nephew, Jon Johnson; and her faithful, four-legged companions, Sam, Pepper and Junior. She is survived by her god-daughters, Kim (Mike) Rashaw and Whitnee Sanders; three grandchildren, Willie Harvey, Sade Lovings and Caden Lovings; nieces, Alicia Hurt, Debbie Randall, Stella Ramirez, and Annette Powell; nephews, Carl Hornbeak, Sam Johnson, Keith Johnson, Carlos Powell, William Hurt, and Anthony Hurt; and many beloved friends.
