Ethel Lorraine Stuart

On Thursday, October 1, 2015, we lost an incredible woman, role model, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ethel L. Stuart (Morris), who died peacefully at home at the age of 96. She will be remembered, missed and cherished forever by her daughter, Janice E. Rukavina and son-in-law Jack, her grandsons, William S. Thomas, James P. Thomas and Kristopher R. Rukavina and wife Kelly and her great-grandchildren Kayla, Lauren, Klayton, Sean and Corinne.Born on January 18, 1919, in Weeping Water, Nebraska, to father Peter Clare "Joe" Morris and mother Estella Frances (Young), they moved to Kansas City when she was 2 years old, where she lived the rest of her life. Surviving the Great Depression, during World War II, she worked on the assembly line making radio crystals for airplanes in the war effort. Married on April 16, 1938 to William W. "Bill" Stuart (1975), who honorably served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific in WWII, on his return he worked as a brakeman for the Santa Fe Railroad. Bill was an entrepreneur and started Roll Easy Door Company out of his garage, where Ethel worked with him side-by-side for many years as the office manager. She retired to spend many years caring for her grandsons and family. She was an independent, funny, well-read lady who lived a long, fulfilling and loving lifetime. She touched many lives with her generosity, kind spirit and sense of humor, which she maintained until the end.She was one of five siblings, all of whom preceded her to Heaven: beloved sisters Elizabeth Greenstreet, and MaeDean Greenstreet, and brothers, Paul "Buck" Morris and William Morris.A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church located at 919 NE 96th Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64155, from 6:30-8:00 pm. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held on Friday October 9, at 10:30 am at Holy Family, followed by lunch, with burial service thereafter.Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to: The Alzheimer's Association or Holy Family Catholic Church.
