Evelyn Phillips, 88, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away on March 20, 2017. A memorial service will be held for Evelyn on Friday, March 24th beginning at 2pm with a reception following in the Friendship Hall at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
Evelyn was born on August 31, 1928 on the family farm outside of Garden City, KS, to her parents, Ralph Goodman Greathouse and Viola Fern (Collins) Greathouse.
She married the love of her life, Warren "Boots" Phillips, and they had three children together; Meridee, Natalie and Gregg. Evelyn was a member of Village Presbyterian Church, Indian Hills Country Club, Johnson County Young Matrons, and the board of the Children's Mercy Cardiac Guild.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Fern Greathouse; husband, Warren "Boots" Phillips; son, Gregg Phillips; brothers, Ralph A. Greathouse and Ronald Everett Greathouse; and sisters, Pauline Joyce and Fern L. Greathouse. She is survived by her daughters, Meridee (Sam) Jordan, and Natalie (David) Hagan; grandchildren, Megan (Jacob) Arnold, Matthew (Jenny) Jordan, and Tyler Hagan; great grandchildren, Olivia and Riley Kate Arnold and Warren Henry Jordan; a sister, Beth Elaine Tedrow; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Kansas City Hospice House for their kindness and compassion to Evelyn during her time with them. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial Donations be made to the Warren G. "Boots" Phillips, M.D. Medical Scholarship c/o the KU Endowment Fund (PO Box 928, Lawrence, KS 66044-0928) and/or the Kansas City Hospice House (12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145).
