Friends may come to call on Thursday, March 31st from 5-7pm at the home of Jeff & Louisa Weinrich. Joe was born on March 22, 1936 in St Louis MO to Ralph and Jeanette Weinrich. Joe attended John Burroughs High School for 2 years and then graduated from Ladue in 1954. He went to Iowa State to play football for the Cyclones, but transferred his sophomore year and ended up graduating with a degree in economics from Washington University in St Louis. He was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and active in the Air Force ROTC reserves. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Marcia Weinrich, sisters Susie Kauffmann, Jeanette "Ditty" Weinrich, and brother Jack Weinrich. He is survived by his older brother Ralph "Bebe" Weinrich, his 4 sons Christopher, Kurt (fiance Johanna), Gregory, and Jeffrey (Louisa): grandchildren, Morgan, Melanie, Brady, Trevor, Greta, Lauren, and Allison and many nieces and nephews. Joe met the true one and only love of his life, Mary Marcia, while at Wash U in St Louis and they married in 1959, in 1962 they moved to Kansas City. Joe started his career selling for Granite City Steel Corporation. In 1968 he was courted by Merrill Lynch and spent the next 45 years working as an Institutional Investment Broker with several firms that included: Blyth Eastman Dillion, Shearson American Express, BC Christopher, Dain Bosworth, and Kirkpatrick Petis. He was a trustee on the Jackson County Pension Fund, and a financial advisor for the firefighter's pension system. He played an active role in both Missouri Governor Hearnes's and Teasdale's administrations. Joe moved his family to West 56th street and joined Visitation Parish in 1968. He was a devout Catholic and passed on to us the gift of faith. He was thrifty and taught his sons the value of a dollar and that honesty and being respectful to others was most important in every aspect of their lives. Joe and Marcia shared the same passion for thoroughbred racing attending the Kentucky Derby together for many years. He had several partnerships and his finest moment was getting a horse to qualify for the Belmont Stakes. Joe truly enjoyed the many friends in the neighborhood/parish and work colleagues. He was known by most for solving the world's problems over a drink or 2. Friends George McLiney, Dick Conner, Dr. Joe Henry and Dr. Jim Lott could attest to that. He and Marcia also enjoyed joining Jack and Joan Egan for Bloody Mary's and hot dogs after Mass on Sundays. Joe was a regular patron having "business meetings" as mom used to say at Italian Gardens, Romanelli's, Irene's, Costello's Greenhouse, and The Carriage Club. Joe was an avid card player and joined "the gin group" at Jess and Jims every Friday and would also play at Indian Hills or the Carriage Club on Saturdays. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Little Sisters of the Poor or Conception Seminary College, Conception MO.
