Florence Meiners Gormly

Florence Meiners Gormly, 90, passed away surrounded by her family on November 21, 2015 at Kansas City Hospice House. She was born in Kansas City on February 18, 1925. She graduated from St. Vincent's Academy and worked in the Meiners family grocery store business. There, she met her husband of 64 years, Albert Gormly, Jr. A devout Catholic, she received a special award from the Bishop for her voluntary work at St. Catherine's, Bishop Sullivan and Seton Centers. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Meiners (nee Belier), sisters, Helen, Mary Louise, Alice, Elda, Sister Rita, Frances; brothers, George, Ralph, Walter, and grandson Jacob Gormly. She is survived by her husband and 8 children, Al Gormly, III, Kathleen (Tom) Young, Rita (Joe) Fiedler, Mark (Annette) Gormly, Mary (Brian) Pleyte, Pat Gormly, Kevin (Jennifer) Gormly, and Diane (Tony) Batson, and 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4104 E 105th Terr KCMO. Monday, Nov. 23: Rosary at 5pm, Visitation to follow until 8pm. Tuesday, Nov 24: Funeral at 10am, burial to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care or St. Catherine of Siena Church.


The Rosary will be prayed at 5pm.
