Francis L. “Bud” Schwartze, 92, passed away October 3, 2022. Bud was born December 18, 1929 in Gilliam, MO to Frank and Margaret (Feltrop) Schwartze. He graduated from Glasgow High School and had a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Finley Engineering College. Bud served in the US Army during the Korean War and earned the Distinguished Service Cross, Purple Heart, and the Korean Wharang Service Medal. Bud worked as a superintendent of electrical pumping for the Kansas City Water Dept, and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Water Works Association.
Bud was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #14163. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jim Schwartze and Fr. David Schwartze; brothers, Leonard and Alex Schwartze; sisters, Jenny Meyer and Angeline Aholt; a grandson, Nathaniel Schwartze. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Teresa Schwartze; sons, Ken Schwartze and wife Susan; John Schwartze and wife Cindy, Carl Schwartze and wife Vikki; daughters, Susan Bellassai and husband Angelo, Beth Schwartze and Karen Daues and husband Jim; daughter-in-law, Mary Schwartze; 22 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
The rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am Saturday, October 8th at St. Elizabeth Church, 2 E. 75th St. Kansas City, MO followed by visitation and Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Interment with military honors will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Sullivan Center.
