Frank A. Toplikar

Frank Toplikar, 88, of Overland Park, KS passed away August 25, 2017 surrounded by his family. Frank was born in Kansas City, KS, on August 26, 1928, the son of August and Josephine Toplikar. Frank was first generation American. His parents emigrated from Slovenia in 1912. Frank attended Holy Family Grade School, Bishop Ward High School and Rockhurst College. On February 6, 1954, Frank married Geraldine (Gerre) Murphy. Gerre died on February 6, 1989, their 35th wedding anniversary. Together, they raised four daughters in Kansas City, MO. Frank worked as an investment banker for 40 years and eventually became president of Zahner & Company. He retired from Piper Jaffray in 1993. On November 24, 2001 Frank married Helen Sakoulas Kopulos. Frank was active in many organizations tied to his Catholic faith. Frank was heavily involved in the The Knights of the Holy Sepulcher, St. Elizabeth Parish, St. Teresas Academy, Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Eucharist, Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, Catholic Charities, Hope Care Center, Avila University and the Serra Club to name a few.Frank was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gerre, his brothers Joseph Toplicar, Charles and Edward Toplikar and his sisters, Mary Bartkoski, Rose Behm, Liz Franke, and Angie Korona. He is survived by wife Helen; sisters, Ann Felich and Bernice Orel and sister in law, Lucille Macek. Frank is also survived by four daughters, Janice (Terry ) Welsh, Joannie (Jim) Jones, Shari Webb and Marcia Toplikar; twelve grandchildren, Sean (Katie) Welsh, Danny (Morgan) Welsh, Kevin (Tiffany) Welsh, Monica Welsh, Peter (Mary) Jones, Andy (Elyse) Jones, Lauren (Brian) Siegel, Adam (Whitney) Webb, Cameron (Catt) Webb, Matthew McAuliffe, Shannon McAuliffe and Ben McAuliffe; and seven great grandchildren, Jack, Leo and Piper Welsh, Henry and Isla Welsh, and Savannah and Sawyer Siegel.The Rosary will be prayed at 6pm, Tuesday, August 29th at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave, KCMO, followed by visitation until 8:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am on Wednesday, August 30th at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
