George J. Howard

George J. Howard, 54, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on July 23, 2017. Rosary will be prayed at Visitation Catholic Church, 5141 Main St., KCMO, on Saturday, August 12th at 10am with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30am.
George was born on June 7, 1963 to Dennis and Regina (Carrigan) Howard in Kansas City, MO. He grew up in Kansas City, and graduated from Bishop Hogan High School in 1982. George then went on to Penn Valley Community College where he earned an Associates Degrees in Business Administration and Hospitality. He had a rewarding career working for Henry Wurst, Inc. for several years.
Since George was a young boy, he always had a fascination with outer space, astronauts, and rockets. He would build his own rockets that were capable of being launched, and were sometimes launched in his own backyard! Georges love of space carried on throughout his life. He was a Regional Organizer for the National Space Society. George was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
George is preceded in death by his sister, Eva Monaghan. He is survived by his mother, Regina Howard; father, Dennis Howard and stepmother, Anne Howard; sisters, Margaret Howard, Maura (Paul) Hein, and Regina Wilckens; brother, Dennis G. Howard; half-brothers, Stephen (Nissa) Howard and Thomas (Stefanie) Howard; half-sister, Elizabeth Howard (Aaron Mattheis); nieces, Greta (Derek) Moore, Katie (Joe) Lindgren, Anatola Howard, Meera and Serena Howard; nephews, Jerry Wilckens and Loren Hein; and grandnephews, Conal and Rory Moore, and Jim Lindgren.
The family asks that memorial contributions be sent to Smile Train, 41 Madison Ave., 28th Fl, New York, NY 10010. Georges corneas were donated to give two people the gift of sight. Condolences may be expressed at www. muehlebachchapel.com.
