Glen Woodson "Woody" Overton, 70, of Kansas City, MO, passed away February 10, 2017 surrounded by family. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, February 14th at St. Peters Church, 701 E. Meyer Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Wednesday at St. Peters Church. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Leavenworth Interfaith Community of Hope Sister of Charity of Leavenworth.
Woody was born in Trenton, MO on May 3, 1946. He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Heinen Hicks; father, Phillip Overton and his brother James Overton. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Jane Overton; daughters, Kathleen Overton, Beth Cavaliere and husband Tom; grandchildren, Thomas and Olivia Cavaliere; niece, Susan Wegener and husband Lance; great-niece, Lanie Faith Marie Overton. Woody also had a very special relationship with his five cousins, Lynn Stiles, Henry Fulkerson (Margaret), Leah Bassin (Larry), David Fulkerson and Martha Huffman (Chuck).
Woodys professional career was dedicated to public service. He was a staff member for U.S. Senator Thomas Eagleton from 1977-1986 and served as Regional Administrator for General Service Administration from 1993-2001. He ran many political campaigns for candidates and issues he supported. After leaving government service he continued to be active in the community representing clients in the private sector. He was honored to represent J.E. Dunn Construction.
