Gregory "Tator" Crites passed away September 16th, 2015. Visitation will be at 9 a.m., Saturday, September 19th followed by Mass at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 8500 Wornall. Graveside services at Mt. Olivet. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are requested to be directed to Christ the King Food Pantry.
Greg was born August 28th, 1930 to Elmer and Dorothy Crites in Dutchtown, Mo. He was drafted and served in the Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict for 2 years. He went on to earn a Sociology degree at St. Louis University after he attended Kenrick Seminary. He was employed by CNA Insurance for 32 years. He never really retired as he used his skill sets and heart to run the food pantry at Christ the King for 18 years. It was in St. Louis he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Koester. They married in 1960 and that bond lasted 55 years. They adopted 3 children. Greg enjoyed golf, softball, managing his sons baseball games. He was an outdoors' person and loved fishing and taking his family camping in National Parks all across the U.S.
He was proceeded in death by two children, Steve and Melissa, his parents and 5 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife Barbara and son Brian and his wife Diana and their daughter Briana; 3 brothers and a sister - Jerome Crites, Jim Crites, David Crites and Judy Brashear as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the caregivers at John Knox Village Care Center for providing compassionate care with special thanks to Larry for his efforts in Greg's final days..
