Harriett Ann North

Harriett Ann North, 84, passed away peacefully at home on December 17 after a long illness. Harriett was born June 9, 1939, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Charles Thomas and Harriett Rose Falk and is preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Marie, her brother Jimmy, her former husband Peter T. Dougherty, their son Kevin and her spouse Sandy North. She is survived by her sister Peggy Brooks of Rancho Santa Fe, CA., son Patrick Dougherty (Kathy) of Houston, daughter Deanne Arnote (Jay) of Overland Park, and stepson Terry North of St. Louis. Harriett is also missed by her grandchildren Grant, Jared, Kelley, Katie, Allie, Christin, Aron, Alexandre and Andrew and 15 great grandchildren.

Harriett Ann graduated from Sunset Hill High School in 1957. She then attended college at the University of Kansas. Following school, Harriet had a successful career as an interior decorator and furniture saleswoman in Kansas City at Traditional House and Pilgrim House Furniture and in Dallas, TX at Haverty’s Furniture. Harriett loved to spend time with her family, listening to jazz music and cooking. Harriett was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas for many years and more recently Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish. She was an especially enthusiastic participant in the Marion Society in both parishes.

As we say our goodbyes, let us remember Harriett Ann North for the love and zest she brought to our lives. May her soul rest in eternal peace and may we find comfort in the memories that will live on.

Services will be held at Queen of the Holy Rosary on December 28 at 9:30AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sister Servants of Mary or to Phoenix Hospice in Time of Need.
