Harry "Mick" McEnany, 88, passed away peacefully at his home on June 16, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Kansas City, he earned his nickname by overcoming a serious case of pneumonia at birth, prompting his father to say, I think the little Mick is going to make it". Mick graduated from De La Salle High School in 1946. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Army and attended St. Benedicts and Rockhurst College. His eventual business career was Insurance, working for different agencies and starting his own agency in 1980. His work ethic was legendary, as he worked up until his death. Micks passion, however, was his family: He married JoCele Kelly in Peoria, IL in 1960 and was blessed with 6 children: Mike, Karen (Rich), Dan (Angie), Brian (Carol), MaryJo (Chris), Patrick (Alison) and 13 grandchildren: Patrick, Jack and Colin Watters, Kennedy, Ella, Chloe, Livia, Shane, Cara and Maeve McEnany, Sam, Mick and Liam Mann. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Olive and Harry and brother Jack. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, his sister, Sr. Mary Jo McEnany and brother, Larry (Dorothy) McEnany. He is also survived by countless nephews and nieces who all adored their Uncle Mick as well as a lifetime of friends. Our Dad was the first to say hello, extend a hand, flash his smile, and make you feel appreciated. He loved sports religiously following Notre Dame, the Royals, and Chiefs in that order but coaching and attending his kids and then grandkids games took priority. He loved to play golf with his sons, play cards, meet with the Back 9, and the first party that he will miss will be the one following his service. We are grateful for the St. Lukes Oncology and Hospice team. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to American Cancer Society.Visitation will be held from 5:30-7 pm Tuesday, June 20th followed by a prayer service at 7:00 pm at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 11822 Holmes Rd. KC, Mo. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Wednesday, at St. Thomas More Church. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.muehlebachchapel.com.
