Helen Amelia Murphy Eaton, 100 years old, passed away peacefully on November 19th, 2015. She was born to Albert Allen and Lucy Freda (Hendrickson) Murphy on September 13th, 1915 in St. Joseph, MO.Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Paul Eaton, sister Alleen Heil, twin sister Ellen Kafka, and brother Everette Murphy. She is survived by two daughters, Paula Vohs (John) and Karen Andrew (Mac) of Kansas City, MO, four grandchildren, Amy Vohs, Andrew Vohs (Dana), Stephanie Kobel (Rob), Rebecca Robinson (Shane) and eight great grandchildren.Mom graduated from Lafayette High School and worked at Quaker Oats until 1936 when she married Paul and became a housewife and mother. She returned to school at 49 and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mom was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church. Helen and Paul moved to Grandview, MO in 1968. She worked at Holmesdale Convalescent until 1993. Mom loved cooking, sewing, playing cards and entertaining family and friends. We celebrated Mom's 100th birthday this year with a big celebration with all her family coming in from out of town. She was a true example of wisdom, kindness and unconditional love. Memorial contributions may be made to City Union Mission or Bishop Sullivan Center.Mom will be laid to rest at a family graveside service on Monday, November 23rd in St. Joseph, MO.
