Helen L. Kennedy, 87, was born in Kansas City, MO, April 23, 1929, and passed away Mon, January 16, 2017, at Bishop Spencer Place in The Plaza. Visitation Sat, 1/21, 10 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64131, (816) 444-2060. A graveside service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, 6901 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64131, following funeral.
Helen was preceded in death by her mother; father; four brothers; one infant sister; her loving husband of 56 years, Edgar Kennedy; and son, Paul Kennedy. She leaves behind two daughters, Irene Dungan and Carol Soderstrom; son-in-law, Robert Soderstrom; four grandchildren, Jeff and Alex Dungan, Serena Hutchison and Linda (Hutchison) Kelly; and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bishop Spencer Place, 4301 Madison Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64111.
Helen was a legal secretary before marrying Edgar; a Christian for 48 years; taught Sunday School and Bible Classes; was a phone counsellor for the 700 Club; a strong Republican; and loved crafts, table games, and laughing.
