Herminio Ramos Gatapia

Herminio Ramos Gatapia, 85, of Kansas City, MO passed away, October 5th, 2019, lovingly surrounded by family. Visitation will be at 9a.m. Friday, October 11 with the rosary prayed at 9:45a.m. followed by Mass at 10a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church, 2 East 75th Street, Kansas City, MO 64114. Burial will be held at Mount Olivet, followed by a luncheon and celebration of life at St. Elizabeths Seton Hall.
Hermie was born on Christmas Eve, 1933 in Santa Cruz, Laguna, Philippines, the son of Ricardo and Pilar Gatapia. While attending Mapua University in Manila to receive his Mechanical Engineering Degree, Hermie worked at the famous Aristocrat Restaurant, where he met the love of his life, Fe Inocencio. They were married on May 7, 1962. From that union they had 5 children. He moved to the Kansas City area with his family in 1973.
Hermie worked at the University of Missouri Kansas City in Facility Management for 23 years where his co-workers gave him the nickname Rocky. He loved fishing, bowling, and long drives "out on the open road ", but mostly loved dancing with his wife, who he adored. He was a fun spirited, giving man who lent a helping hand and support to many.
He is survived by his wife, Fe, four sisters, four sons, beautiful grandchildren and many who lovingly called him Tay who are considered extended family. He will be reunited in heaven with his daughter, Rosella.
The family would like to thank the amazing nurses and doctors of St Lukes Neuroscience ICU Plaza location for their care and support.
