Jim was born January 29, 1941, in Kansas City, the Son of James V. and Janet Harrington. He married Diane Cleary of Rhode Island, in 1964. He had two children, Kristine, who preceded him in death, and Robert P. Harrington who resides in Hawaii. He is survived by his son, Robert P. Harrington, his daughter-in-law Gail Chin, and brother Jerry of Kansas City. Jim was also preceded in death by wife, Diane Harrington; sisters, Janet Gayle Bauer and Julie Ann Curtis; a brother, John Harrington. Jim graduated from Hogan High School and St Mary’s University in San Antonio. Following graduation, he followed in his father’s footsteps caring for the community, for over 40 years as the President of The Muehlebach Funeral Home of Kansas City. Upon retirement, Jim and Diane moved to Las Vegas, NV where he was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and Dragon Ridge Country Club. His kindness will be sorely missed.
Jim was a devout Catholic and enjoyed his annual White House Retreat in St. Louis, and was a member of The Serra Club of Kansas City. He had a love of automobiles, especially Corvettes, and was an avid golfer enjoying several holes in ones and was a longtime member of Indian Hills Country Club.
The rosary will be prayed at 5:30 pm Thursday, June 20 at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, Missouri, followed by visitation until 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 21, at 10:00 am, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 75th and Main St, Kansas City, MO. The interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
