Jan Regan
September 21, 1942-January 13, 2023
Jan Regan, age 80, passed away January 13, 2023, in Kansas City after a period of declining
health.
The daughter of Jim and Virginia McBrien, Jan was a life-long Kansas City resident. Jan attended
Hogan High School and College of St. Teresa. After graduation, she traversed the country as a
TWA hostess, taught at St. Therese Little Flower and Visitation Schools. For more than 30 years
Jan volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House spearheading the Sunday Night Dinner
Program. Because of her volunteerism, she was recognized as a Local Hero in 2003 by Ingram’s
Magazine and honored with the Buck O’Neil seat in 2013.
Jan was an avid Kansas City history buff and was always researching and exploring local people,
places and events. She led Plaza Walking Tours and shared her enthusiasm with her students
through her Kansas City History program. In this program, students were given the name of an
historic site in the area and then were to explore with their families and report back to the
class.
Over the years, many of you likely saw Jan cruising in one of her red convertibles, top down,
tunes blaring, always taking the long way home. On Saturday nights she indulged with a gin and
tonic with lots of ice.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tom and sister, Susan. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Mike, daughters Kerry and Casey (Ken), grandchildren Nick, Greg, Molly, Jack, Luke, Jake, great-grandson Wyatt, brother Rich (Carla), nieces Kelly, Allie and her furry friends Moe, TJ and Sophie.
