Jean Bellemere, age 97, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 17, 2016. She was married to Fred Bellemere, Jr. for over fifty years. Jean and Fred raised their two children in the Brookside area. It is the home where she lived until age 97. Jean loved her children and traveling the world with Fred. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, the Research Hospital Gift Shop, and a former member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid bridge and Mah Jongg player. She was a graduate of the University of Missouri Columbia, a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Mission Hills Country Club. Jean was known to host wonderful parties for her friends and neighbors. She will always be remembered in her bright red convertible with the top down. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred; parents, Dr. and Mrs. Hugh Grun Tanzey; sister, Virginia Bruce Jordan and brother in law, Paul Jordan. Jean is survived by her son, Fred Bellemere, III, (Judy); daughter, Janice Hamill, (Tom); seven grandchildren, Fred Bellemere, IV, Matthew Bellemere, Mary Judith Stallard, Patrick Hamill, Kyleen Fishwick, Jordan Thorsen and twelve great grandchildren. A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, KC Missouri, or a charity of your choice.
