Joe Larmer Davis, Jr., known to those he loved as a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, and a brother, passed away on March 25, 2024, surrounded by those he loved. His legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
Survived by his loving wife, Beverly Davis, Joe leaves behind a remarkable family. Brother Roy (Paula) Davis, Sisters Judy (Dan) Hausman and Shirley Carter. His children include David (Charlotte) Davis, Jason (Heather) Davis, Phillip (Carrie) Madrigal, Melissa (Kevin) Madrigal-Jones, and Juliana (Robert) Osbourne.
Joe was blessed with 16 grandchildren, Rebecca, Kelsey, Andrea, Emily, Tyler, Katherine, Cogan, Kaleigh, Jessica, Kheaton, Alec, Logan, Regan, Austin, Brantley, Annessa, and 12 great-grandchildren. Each is a testament to the love and warmth he shared with his family.
Along with Joe’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he also leaves behind many loved sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joe L. Davis, Sr. and Coral Hass Davis, as well as his brothers, Charles Wayne and Michael. Joe’s memory lives on through the generations he leaves behind.
Beyond his family, Joe was a successful entrepreneur and a quiet professional who led by example in all he did. In 1974, Joe founded ISSCO, Inc., a wholesale fastener distribution company with a vision to efficiently service customers throughout the Midwest. From humble beginnings in the basement of their Independence, Missouri home, ISSCO grew into a successful and thriving locally-owned business thanks to Joe’s dedication and hard work. ISSCO will be celebrating its 50th anniversary on May 4, 2024.
His two sons, David and Jason Davis, joined the ISSCO team, making it a true family endeavor. Joe’s commitment to exceptional customer service and quality products shaped the company’s success.
Beyond the business world, Joe dabbled in the game of golf, enjoyed a Mizzou, Chiefs, or Royals victory, as well as the timeless appeal of classic cars. His 1951 Jaguar Mark V Sedan was crowned National Champion in the late 1980’s. In his free time, he raised cattle on his family farm in Grant City, Missouri, where he was born.
Above all, Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal friend.
A memorial service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3333 Broadway Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri, 64111 on Thursday, April 4, 2024, with visitation starting at 8:30 a.m., a Rosary following at 9:00 a.m., and Mass at 9:30 a.m.
