Joe Pleasent Towsley was born on April 8th, 1959 in Seville, Spain and passed away suddenly, Monday morning June 24th, 2024. He was 65 years old. He lived in Kansas City, MO for the past 19 years, and Greenwood, MO prior to that.

Joe was a loving father, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 44 years as of 5/26; Darlene, his 2 children; Justin, and Megan (Phil)

Joe had 2 sisters; Ellen and Nancy (Buddy); 1 brother; Kenny (Charlene).

Joe had 4 grandchildren; Percy, Jaedyn, Alexa, and Bella.

Joe had a love for his dogs; Rambo, Bud, Gunner, Lincoln, Max, Pete, and, Cash. He also had numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Friends.

Joe grew up playing football and baseball in Jacksonville, Arkansas. As a youth he had a passion for cars, music, hanging out with his friends. He loved swimming, camping, working in his dad’s restaurant, and his Grandma Ivey’s cooking.

Joe was in the Marine Corps for 21 and a half years; he retired in 1998 with honors. Within his career, he received numerous acclamations for excellence and outstanding service; including playing for the All-Marine Softball Team. Nothing gave him more pride than to represent his nation. This is also where he met Darlene (she was a Marine as well), back in 1979.

Joe was someone who loved his family very much and would do anything and everything for them. Family vacations, road trips were something that were truly special. Whether it was a trip to Disney World, Yellow Stone, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, or on Alaskan or a Caribbean Cruise, he was always enjoying himself.

Joe was an excellent Grandfather and Father, he tried to instill the same work ethic that he had. He was always trying to be active, whether it was riding his Harley, or helping mom with some new project around the house, there was always something to do. One thing is for sure, he never lost his sense of humor, and he always said I Love You.

Joe is preceded in death by his loving parents; Mary and Don Towsley.
