John R (Jack) Krumme, Sr., died April 3, 2016 in Overland Park, KS from complications of a stroke. He was born March 29, 1928 to George E. and Bess H. (Hull) Krumme. He was born on a farm near Willowbrook, MO and raised in Faucett, MO with four older brothers. During the Great Depression the family went to South Dakota for a year, then returned home to MO when they lost their crop to locusts in 1931. Jack always reflected fondly on growing up on the farm with his brothers. Jack was educated in a one-room schoolhouse, then graduated from Benton High School in St Joseph, MO. He worked his way through the University of Missouri in Columbia, primarily by selling the tomatoes he grew. Jack graduated in 1950 with a degree in Agricultural Mechanization. A lifelong Mizzou fan, he supported the Ag School and Tiger football, proudly wearing his black and gold Stetson to games. Jack was drafted into the Army and served 1950-52 as a corporal in the ordnance corps in Aberdeen, MD and Yakima, WA. He married Delores Miller in June 1956, and they began their married life in St Joseph, MO. Jack worked for the United States Department of Agriculture as a warehouse examiner and traveled throughout the Midwest and West inspecting grain elevators, meeting many lifelong friends along the way. In 1965, the family moved to Overland Park, KS. In 1968, Jack helped his Aunt Fern and Uncle Don Hull with their business, Cam-Dex Security Corp, a security integration company, when Don became ill. Jack bought the business in 1969 after Dons death, and expanded the company, creating a successful regional concern by his retirement in 1993. Jack was so proud that his son John worked with him in the business. John is now President, and the legacy continues with grandson Dan, who joined Cam-Dex in 2013. Jack and Delores were active in Republican politics and Jack served as Overland Park City Chairman and was a Committeeman for many years. He also served on the Overland Park Board of Zoning Appeals and was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in New York City in 2004. Jacks proudest community service was his involvement in the Kansas Korean War Veterans Association, serving as President of Chapter 181. Under Jack's leadership and through his perseverance and talent in fund-raising and design, the Korean War Veterans Memorial is a visible and permanent addition to 119th Street in Overland Park. Jack was also a hunter, former Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 354, a talented handy-man and a loving father and grandfather. Survivors include Delores, his wife of 59 years; son John (Debi) and three daughters; Barbara Geiger (Steven), Deborah Joy (Kirk) and Amy Crank (Jeff); ten grandchildren Jack (Danielle) Krumme, Dan (Cori) Krumme, Kevin Krumme, Jacob (Keri) Geiger, Second Lieutenant Camden P. Geiger, USMC (fiance Katie Redler), Cooper Joy, Caroline Joy, Foster Joy, Tyler Crank and Braden Crank. Jack is also survived by his brother Malcolm Krumme, and numerous nieces and nephews with whom he was very close. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Max, Fritz (Ila Jean), Tom (Carolyn), and sister-in-law Grace Krumme. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Leawood United Methodist Church (2915 W. 95 St., Leawood, KS 66206).
