Jose Tomas, 95, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on May 21, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on March 23, 1929, in Kansas City, Kansas.

Jose proudly served in the United States Army for two years during World War II. During that time he earned a World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal for his service in Japan. 

He worked as an Iron Worker Local 10 throughout his career. 

Jose was a previous member of St. Cyril’s Church and a current member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

In his free time, Jose enjoyed playing chess, being an avid outdoorsman, going to the casino, and loved learning new things.

Jose is survived by his loved ones: Beatriz Tomas who were happily married for 49 years, Katherine (Joseph) Alvarez, Joseph (Penny) Tomas, Paul (Donna) Tomas, Chris (Angie) Tomas, and Sandra (Gonzalo) Flores, several grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Tomas, daughter Nancy Tomas, his parents Lionso & Refugio Tomas, and his godparents, Natividad & Sofia Cruz.

A Rosary will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 5501 Monticello Road, Shawnee, KS 66226. A Visitation will begin following the Rosary until 11:00am and Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am. The burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, KS.
