Joseph M. Oldham, Jr.

Joseph M. Oldham, Jr., 61, of Kansas City, MO passed away February 4, 2017. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 10th followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Parish, 11822 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131. Inurnment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64138.
Joe was born July 29, 1955, the son of Joe and Dolores (Rogers) Oldham, in Kansas City, MO. Joe attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Grade School, De La Salle and Westport High Schools. Joe worked a variety of jobs over his lifetime but the one he cherished most was raising his children, Effie and Joe. His children were a constant joy in his life. Along with his own children he doted on his niece and nephews and then his great nieces and nephews. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing and riding his motorcycle. One of the many pleasures Joe got out of life was finding treasures at the thrift stores. He took the family motto of "Never pay retail" very seriously. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children; daughter, Effie Oldham of Kansas City, Joe Oldham, III and grandson, Kayden Oldham of Dover, Delaware. His sisters, Connie Armstrong and husband, James, and Kathie DeLeve and husband Bart and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family donations may be made to Childrens Mercy Hospital, St. Judes Hospital, Junior Diabetes Research Foundation, or Harvesters - The Community Food Network of Kansas City.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at The Kansas City Hospice House for their incredible tender loving care and compassion for our loved one in his final days.
