Lee's Summit

Judith Ann (Judy) Rechterman passed away on March 25, 2024 at Centerpoint Medical Center.  Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday April 5 at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 NW Murray Road, Lee’s Summit, MO  64081. Visitation to precede at 10:00 am.

Judy was born on February 18, 1952 in Columbia, Missouri to John and Dolly (Jacobi) Kadlec.  She attended Seven Dolors Grade School in Manhattan, Kansas, Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri and was a proud graduate of Kansas State University where she earned her degree in elementary education.

In 1977 Judy married Ernie Rechterman of Higginsville, Missouri and there she began her teaching career.  After Ernie’s untimely death in 1977 Judy moved to Lee’s Summit.  In addition to Ernie, Judy was preceded in death by her parents and two infant brothers.  She is survived by her siblings Peggy (Bob) Collins, John (Cindy) Kadlec and Joan (Jeff) Melegrito; nephews Joe (Katie) Collins, David (Morgan) Collins; nieces Melanie (Pete) Cuezze, and Katherine (Rian) Markes; six great nieces and nephews: Lucy, Hannah, Reed, Landry, Ford and Charlee. Judy’s great joy was in seeing her nephews and nieces grow from infancy to loving, accomplished adults and parents.

Judy’s life was centered around her strong Catholic faith, loving and close family, and lifelong and loyal friendships.  A member of Presentation Parish since 1986, she was involved in the St. Joseph Guild, and other ministries as she was able. As an elementary teacher at the parish school, Judy was blessed to work with many wonderful teachers, students and families with whom she  remained close.

Judy was a huge fan of the Mizzou Tigers, KSU Wildcats and Kansas City Royals. She was a passionate animal lover and supported many causes dedicated to their protection and the protection of their habitats.

Judy was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed.
