Julian Ominski (81) of Leawood, KS passed away November 13, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to parents Julian Sr. and Josephine Ominski. Julian attended Bishop Hogan High School the class of 1959. He continued his education at The University of Kansas School of Architecture. For twenty years Julian worked for numerous architectural firms in Kansas City. The last one being HOK Sports. Julian’s architectural design can be seen across the United States at numerous sports stadiums. Most notably Yankee Stadium – New York, Coors Field – Colorado, Oriole Park at Camden Yards – Baltimore, and many baseball spring training facilities in Florida and Arizona. Julian was passionate about art and found joy in creating sculptures and paintings. His work was proudly displayed at the Plaza and Westport Art Fair.
Julian married his high school love, Mary Imming on August 22nd, 1964. They were active members of the Kansas City community with their three children Paula, Jen, and Craig. Their family has grown to include five grandchildren and six great grandchildren whom Julian adored.
Julian was proceeded in death by his parents Julian Sr., Josephine, his sisters Pat Davis and Cindy Burstein of California. Julian is survived by his wife, Mary Ominski, his children Paula Connery (Todd), Jennifer Brush (Tim), and Craig Ominski. Grandchildren Jessica Montague (Jeremy), Leah Carmichael (Jason), Patrick Connery, Jakob Brush (Jessica), and Savana LaRosh (Kevin). Great grandchildren Emmett, Edison, Henry, Leo, June, and Baron.
The visitation will begin at 9:30 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131 on Friday, November 17, 2023. The Rosary will be prayed directly following at 10:30 am with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to The Kansas City Art Institute for summer programs.
