June Behrendt Padgett

June Padgett, 86, of Kansas City, MO passed away March 20, 2023. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 15th, visitation at 10:00, service at 11:00, at Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, KCMO 64113. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be given to the Kansas City Symphony or the Alzheimer’s Association.

June was born November 1, 1936, the daughter of Marguerite (Stemmons) and August F. Behrendt in Kansas City, MO. She attended J.C. Nichols Elementary School and then went on to Southwest High School, where she was chosen to be a member of the National Honor Society. After high school, she studied first at the University of Missouri where she was a TriDelt, and then at the Kansas City Art Institute. June followed her education with work as a draftsman, tech, and illustrator at Bendix Corporation.

In the Fall of 1956, she met Earl Calvin Padgett, Jr., “Cal”. They were married on February 16, 1957, and recently celebrated 66 years of marriage.

June was a joyful and kind person who was always able to find the “silver lining” in every situation. She was also a life-long learner and was involved in many activities including, Alternate Tuesday Club, Great Books, TriDelta Garden Group, Citizens Association Board, the “bridge club”, B.T.S. Investment Club, Rainbow Hospital Auxiliary Board, Friends of the Library Board, Childrens’ Cardiac Board, Kessler Society Board, Zoo Docent and Silver Sneaker at the Cleaver YMCA. Her special interests also included tennis, travel, classical music, KC Symphony concerts, and creating art (predominantly with stoneware clay and acrylic paints) which she sold, mostly locally,

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Rees Behrendt. She is survived by her husband Cal and their two children, daughter Susie Padgett and son, Sherman Padgett and wife Mia; and six grandchildren, Noel Williams, Calvin Williams, Anthony Padgett, Sophia Padgett, Sean Sadler, and Ryan Sadler.
