Kenneth R. Knickerbocker

Kenneth R. Knickerbocker, US Army, Retired, age 68, of Gardner, KS died March 13, 2015 in Belleville, IL. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11 at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave, KCMO. Visitation will follow until 1 p.m. A graveside service with full military honors was held in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA on March 27, 2015.

Ken was born May 19, 1946 in Kansas City, MO to Maximilian R. and Sherley J. (Thomas) Knickerbocker. He grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Rockhurst High School in 1964. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Northwood University. Ken served with the US Army and retired with the rank of First Sgt. In retirement he was a Civil War re-enactor, portraying Major General and President James A. Garfield with the Lincoln?s Generals. Ken was a member of the Catholic faith; Masonic Lodge 239, Winter Park, FL; American Legion Post 53, Sanford, FL; Union Armies of the West, KS (President); Lincoln?s Generals.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, William Knickerbocker and two sisters, Elizabeth Eatherton, and Marjorie Mendoza.

He is survived by his wife, Teri L (Hayward) Knickerbocker; their two children, Timothy Knickerbocker and Stephanie Knickerbocker, FL.; two children from a previous marriage, Robert Knickerbocker (Kim) and Amanda Purvis (Steve), KY; five grandchildren, Brooklynn, Bryleigh, Makena, Madison, and Trace, KY; a sister, Alexandra Buchholz (Steve), Spring Hill, KS; and his nieces and nephews.
