Larry Franklin Parsons
Born: December 9, 1947
Departed: August 14, 2023
Larry, our beloved brother, uncle, and friend left us forever to be with our Lord and reunite with loved ones beyond.
Larry was an avid and loyal fan of the KC Chiefs and Royals and tried to never miss a game. He knew the current team roster and recalled players from decades ago. Larry told stories of watching baseball at the old Municipal Stadium. He followed the Chiefs from the year they moved to Kansas City.
Born December 9, 1947, and growing up in Kansas City, KS, he graduated from Turner High School in 1966. After graduating, he joined the US Navy during the Vietnam era. He served for four years on a troop supply ship. While he was stationed in California, he sailed to Hawaii, Japan, and into Vietnam waters.
After the Navy, he returned to civilian life and went to work at Strasser Hardware, where he earned his title as the Paint and Industrial Dept. Manager for over 40 years.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Edith Whitney, and half-brother, John Wormsley.
Leaving behind are the following;
His dearest friend and close companion, Mary White of Kansas City, MO
His sisters: Patricia Craig of Goodman, MO, Billie Jean Carley of Overland Park, KS, Brenda Whitney of Lake Ozark, MO, and half-sister Bonnie Waters of Victorville, CA
His brothers: Bill Whitney of Romeoville, IL, and Jim Whitney of Haltom City, TX
These siblings graced his life with many beloved nieces and nephews, including Christal Russum of Edwardsville, KS, who lived with Larry for several years and saw him as a father.
Larry had a knack for photography. He loved taking his camera with him everywhere and sharing his photos on Facebook. He also enjoyed every family holiday gathering, especially the ones with food involved, which is all of them.
Larry's passing leaves an empty space in many hearts. Let us fill that void with the happy memories of this loved man.
