Leo Michael 'Mike' Welsh

Mike Welsh, 76, passed away August 5, 2021. Mike was born September 17, 1944 in Kansas City, MO to Edward J. and Monica (Manley) Welsh. He was the youngest of six children. Mike served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam he graduated from Central Missouri State University.
Mike enjoyed life to the fullest. He had many interests but his most fulfilling was being a coach and teacher to many. He loved spending time at the lake because he had the best lake family anyone could ask for. His true love was his family and friends. Mike spent all of his extra time in the stands or on the sidelines cheering on his kids and grandkids. He was loud and everyone know when Mike was present. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacque Jean Welsh. Survivors include his sons, Don Welsh and wife Julie, Eddie Welsh and wife Rebecca; step-sons, Wade McDonough and wife Julie, Ryan McDonough and wife Kelly; his companion Sandy Eckert-Stewart, his grandchildren, Mikey, Jake and Jimmy Welsh, Klaebel, Chedon and Evietta Welsh; step-grandchildren, Matt and Katy McDonough; Sawyer, Aven, and Sammy McDonough.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 am Friday, August 13th at Church of the Nativity, 3800 W. 119th St., Leawood, KS 66209 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Haloworldwide.org or the Kansas City Hospice House.
