Leota Halloran

December 21, 1930 — January 10, 2016

Leota Halloran, of Kansas City, Missouri died on January 10, 2016. She was born on a farm located outside of Mount Ayr, Iowa on December 21, 1930 to Orville and Lillian (Hill) Lovitt. Leota was preceded in death by her husband, Captain Gerald Halloran, of the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department and by her grandson, Mitchell Halloran, infant son of Steven Halloran. She met Gerald at a wedding where they were both attendants. They were married at St. James Parish, and began their young lives together, which would include the birth of their three children.
She is survived by son, Patrick Halloran of Kansas City, MO, daughter, Cynthia Caffrey, of Overland Park, KS; son, Steven Halloran of Lees Summit, MO, Mary Thompson, long-time friend of Patrick Halloran and Daniel Caffrey, husband of Cynthia Caffrey. Other survivors include grandchildren, Anne Ramirez, Jimmy Halloran, Shanna Halloran, Brett Halloran, Julie Morrow, and John Caffrey; great-grandchildren, Josh Ramirez, Andy Ericson, TJ Ramirez, Brennan Halloran, Lillian Halloran, Brody Morrow, Colin Caffrey, Carlie Caffrey, Caleb Caffrey, Breanna Hayes, Gabe Hayes, and Jackie Hayes. She is also survived by her brother, Russell Lovitt and his wife, Elaine; sisters, LaVaughn Thomas and Verda Benitz.
Leota devoted her life to her husband and to raising her three children, spending time with her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many wonderful friends. Her home was always full of fun and laughter. Quick with a smile, her generosity towards all was apparent. After her children were raised, she worked for JC Penney for many years. She was an excellent seamstress, and the homes of her children and grandchildren are adorned, to this date, with the draperies and reupholstered furniture she created with loving care. She was a devoted Catholic who was involved in many charitable activities and organizations within the Catholic Church.
Not a day will go by that we will not miss you, but we know that you are in Gods loving care and are surrounded once again by those who have long been awaiting your arrival in heaven. When it is our time to see you again, we know that we will once again be greeted by your loving embrace.
