Lorraine Rose Downey

Lorraine Rose Downey of Raytown, Missouri; passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 09, 2014 at the age of 89. Lorraine was born December 21, 1924 to Oscar and Martha Hagedorn in Monett, Missouri where she spent her childhood.

Lorraine had three brothers and three sisters. Lorraine was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raytown and was employed at Western Electric in Lee?s Summit for 26 years, starting in 1962. Lorraine stayed active in retirement traveling and working at McDonalds on 350 Highway in Raytown for 16 years, starting in 1992. Lorraine lived the last two years of her life at Villa St Francis in Olathe, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Leo Downey in 1988; and her son, Clifford Downey in 2003. She is survived by two sons, Daniel Downey and Thomas Downey, four grandchildren, Dennis Downey, Kevin Downey, Candace Downey, and Erin Downey, and one great grandchild Collin Downey. Lorraine was a very special person and will be missed for her kindness and all of the joy she brought to this world.



The visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 13 at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO; the Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 8812 E. Gregory Blvd, Raytown, MO. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association-Heart of America Chapter in Prairie Village, KS.
