Louis was born in Kansas City on October 9, 1943 and grew up in Blessed Sacrament parish in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Maur Hill High School in Atchison, KS (1960), and Rockhurst College in Kansas City, MO (1964). He was a history teacher, dean of students and principal at several area Catholic schools in an education career that lasted over 30 years.

It was during his time at Bishop Ward High School that he met his wife, Catherine Tomera (Daly), to whom he was married for 47 years. Before retiring in 2012, Lou had a second career in financial planning in which his people and math skills were put to good use. He was a devoted member of St. Francis Xavier Parish. He most enjoyed time spent with his family and good conversation.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine (Dulle) and Thomas James Daly, Jr. as well as his brother, Thomas. He is survived by his wife Catherine, sons Matthew and Michael, their wives Terri and Christie, grandchildren George, Owen, Winnie and Norah, his sister Kathleen Daly, and sister-in-law Geraldine Bates. Affectionately known as “Papa” later in life, Lou enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. He leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who will miss his storytelling, wit, and playful humor.
